Skimming the news, and catching up on the facebook scroll, I think ...
Sometimes, it stays tight with bows, and glitter and butterflies and rainbows, but sometimes I feel like I need to dust off the keys of my old Royal Typewriter, and pound out a journalistic piece. A bit more editorial, if you will. So, if you would please indulge a bit of my humble ramblings, maybe you may gleen something of importance.
I have long believed that things happen in my world for a reason. My husband doesn't- he is the logical, black and white thinker that balances my holographic hues. This may be you, my 8 readers, who have hung around for my crazy thoughts and ideas. If it is you, just for this brief few moments, bear with me, and try to think in the grey zone.
Things happen for a reason- for instance sitting through a guest speaker last night, having a loud disagreement with one of the most dear people to me, and reading a quote posted by a college friend on facebook. Even in my daily skimm of news that I read. For me, they all had the same thread running through them, which has brought me to writing this- still with me? (you brave soul) Here we go-
We, as a society, as a culture as a country, hell- as the human race. We must shift. It is time. Shifting towards being present, being mindful and aware.
Do you realize, if we live in this mindset- mindful, present, aware- ALL of the issues will begin to melt away?
Don't believe me?
Think about this. With a culture being present, kindness and love will flurish- it won't have a choice-it will thrive, in schools, in business and in basic human interaction.
With a culture being mindful, mental illness will go down- no, it won't go away, but just as a treadmill is helpful in fighting obesity, mindfulness will be helpful in fighting mental illness.
Lastly, a culture that is aware- will bring inclusion, conservation and ultimately wellness.
See how they are completely connected?
I heard last night, that we are currently in the innovation generation of economy. That in the years coming we will be a culture who collaborates and helps solve problems.
What does that mean to the little blonde roots currently pounding away on her Royal Manual Typewriter?
We have to think-
Think about each other, about our earth, and our neighbors. Rather they be a door away, or we are separated by an ocean, we are still neighbors.
So, what is my message today? You have sat through these random thoughts- these fragmented sentences- (Yes, I know what a dash is for, I just really like them)
The message is this- Try it for the rest of the week. Not even a full week, mind you. Simply the next 4 days. Be mindful- be still with yourself, rather it be on the bus ride home, laying in your bed before you drift off to sleep, or in the shower. at least, 1 to 2 minutes. That is all. Less than it too you to read this!
Be Aware- recycle, reuse, donate rather than trash, use less and give more. Aware, of others, of animals of plants- even of insects that have the gall to cross your path.
Be present. Be with your kids, with your spouse, with your dog- At the ballgame, or at the meeting- be present!
Then tell me I am crazy, tell me it doesn't work. Tell me it won't make a difference-
Or
Maybe it will....
It's your choice.
